Eucharistic Minister

Become a Eucharistic Minister (EM) or a Eucharistic Visitor. EMs are lay persons who assist the clergy at the Altar and administer the wine during communion. Lay Eucharistic Visitors (EVs) are responsible for taking the Sunday Eucharist to parishioners who are not able to attend regular services in the parish due to illness. This ministry is always performed immediately following the Sunday Eucharist. Persons who have an existing ministry of visitation or pastoral care are especially encouraged to consider serving as EVs. If this calling interests you, please contact Deacon Maria at 303.688.0603 to find out about training and time requirements.

Or, if you have a strong voice and are able to prepare for the service ahead of time, consider becoming a Lector. Lectors read the lessons from Holy Scripture and the Prayers of the People during the liturgy. Training will be provided to anyone who is interested in this ministry.  All you need to do is commit to reviewing the lessons ahead of time so they are read well. All readers serve at the discretion of the rector.

Acolytes

As an acolyte, you assist those performing the liturgies (bishops, priests, deacons, and other lay ministers) of the Church by acting like a good waiter in a restaurant, a nurse in surgery or an attendant in a cloakroom.  You also assist the congregation by acting as an example of when to do what in the service.  Your acolyte ministry is always marked by servanthood and is thus an authentic ministry of Christ.

Altar Guild

You are welcome to join the Altar Guild at Christ’s Church. As the priest provides the mystery and meaning of our worship, the Altar Guild provides the stage setting.  Members of the Guild check the candles, the wall hangings, the placement of the chalice, bread, and wine, and the drape of the chasuble on the altar rail.

Bread for the service throughout the year, except during Advent and Lent, is made by the women on the Bread Committee.

The results of the work by the Flower Committee make each week’s service a special feast for the eyes.  The women take turns choosing and arranging the flowers and greens that commemorate loved ones, celebrate special occasions, and express thanksgiving as requested by church members.
