Daughter sunshine giver.
by Sean Rima

When we leave McDonalds
After we have finished our lunch,
My two-year-old daughter
Says Bye-Bye!
W/a smile
To the lonely old man
W/the sallow eyes
Sitting in the corner
Thinking his thoughts over
A Styrofoam cup of
Cold coffee,
And for a half a
Heartbeat,
His face lights up
& the curtain is drawn
Aside, but the
Darkness returns
As we make our way out-
Side & she says
Bye-Bye!
To the plastic clown
Bolted to a bench, but
That’s just her way &
Maybe, just maybe,
The clown
Was having a
Bad day, too.
