Ruminations from the Rector - September 2010

Welcome back to the community after a wonderful and eventful summer.  I hope  you grew a few soulful inches over the past three months.  I know that I have, and it hasn’t always been easy. I n fact, have you noticed that the more difficulty that shows up in life, the more opportunities there are to grow?  So much of the time it seems as if Life is wanting to do something through you but has to get your attention to do it, which means the old has to go so the new can come.  In so doing,  a lot of scratchy moments show up for the edges of your attitudes to be smoothed out and made ready for the new that wants to come through.  Has any of this been happening for you?  If so, what have you made of it, and how are you doing with incorporating the new movements into your daily life?

Over the summer I ran into three complimentary teachings that I’ve been trying to express most all my adult life.  It’s amazing how long it takes to override the old programs and transition into the new ones that are actually the original ones placed in each of us from the beginning.  They all had to do with love, the kind that is deep, profound, caring and part of the anointing and blessing we call Christos.  The three teachings that came through a variety of people, places, situations, and things in quite poignant ways were Presence, Patience, and Kindness.  They came bundled in a package called Appreciation and continue to show up daily to remind and teach me their absolute importance.  They need to go cellular, that is, become part of who I am rather than part of what I do.  It's quite a process.

“Put your self last not first.  Stop poking at him/her, be quiet, find the good in the situation, smile, and let it go. ,Bring a loving companion presence here, now.”
“You don’t have to say that.  What do you think will happen if you do?  Why do you want to say that?  It's not helpful.  Can you simply quiet your mind!”
“Listen with all your parts.  What is the field beyond the field?  Can you feel the love that wants to come through?  It’s not about you.  Be here for him/her/them in a new way. Let the flow of Life come.  Release.  Bring more awareness to it.”
“I’m sorry.  Can you say it?  Are you?  Do you see your part in this?  Surrender to love and open to it.  Remember your smiling heart.”
“Stop complaining, breathe, jump in the water, smile again, take the nap, stop pushing your agendas, relax and enjoy, appreciate it, you’re on a growth trajectory, find the joke and see how it’s on you.  Go with Flow, Grace and Mercy.  Easy does it.”

This was all an invitation to grow more fully into the Mind of Christ, this higher level of being, this awakening to the gift of the Divine.  Three months later I’m still listening and following.  I’m still practicing Presence, Patience and Kindness.  I'm still trying to Appreciate all that shows up for me in spite of me.

I extend this invitation to you.  Listen, Listen, Listen.  Follow, Follow, Follow.  To every thought, word, and action, add Presence, Patience, and Kindness.  Work at Appreciating everything that shows up no matter what.  Watch your perceptions change before your very eyes.  Feel the Field of Love that wants to come through you.  Trust the Wonder of your Anointing and Blessing, the Christos.  Ask and it shall be given, seek and you will find, knock and the door will be opened for you over and over and over and over again. It's all connected.......
