Party of Parties Kickoff, Saturday, October 13, from 5:00 P.M. until 10:00 P.M. in the Undercroft
Have you ever been to one of the Party of Parties? These events are legendary in our church community for the creative themes, lavish spreads of food and drink, and spirited conversations with people of all ages and from all walks of life who all just happen to be connected to Christ’s Church in some way. All it takes to attend is the price of admission and an RSVP, which you can do at our kickoff event Saturday, October 13, at 5:00 P.M.
What is the purpose of the Party of Parties?
Well, aside from a source of fun and frolic, the Party of Parties serves as one of our major fundraisers. Our goal this year is to raise $10,000 for the church, and we need everyone’s help. That’s right. We want you to have a great time while you support a great cause. This is what is known as an easy decision, a slam dunk…a win-win.
How do these parties work?
Each event is hosted by a couple, individual or family in our congregation who chooses a specific theme and sets a price. Other parishioners sign up to attend one or more of the parties and pay the required guest fee(s). The moneys received are donated to the church.
Ooohhh…church pot lucks…how exciting!
Hey, there – watch your attitude. These aren’t your grandma’s pot lucks – unless, of course, your grandma is a gourmet cook and an innovative entertainer like mine. Past successes have included an Epicurean Delight theme, a world-famous Italian dinner, and more. (We hear that this year’s offerings include a sure-to-be-memorable event at some couple’s house who make an unforgettably spirit-filled margarita.) Oh, and have we mentioned all proceeds benefit the church?
You’ve convinced me – sign me up!
I knew you’d see it my way. To sign up to host or to attend, though, you’ll have to come to the Kickoff on October 13. The price of admission to the kickoff is $10 per person before October 13th and $15 the day of the event. The kids’ meals are free.
What happens if I skip the kickoff?
You might not be able to host a party, and it’s even more likely you won’t be able to attend some of the more well-known events. The guest list for each party is first-come, first-serve, and each has a maximum number of participants. Our most popular parties max out quickly and many will be full by the end of the kickoff night. If the guest list is full, you won’t be able to sign up later. The Party of Parties is a year-long series of events, so don’t wait until autumn 2008 to get involved!
What happens after the kickoff?
You’ll know the schedule of most of the parties by the time you leave the Kickoff. If you signed up for a particular party and paid your guest fee, you’ve RSVP’ed. Kyle and Amy will email details of each event to the event’s guest list as the date nears. Then, you’ll go to the party, eat drink and be merry, and leave thankful that you know such a great group of people. And that’s not even including the warm and fuzzy feeling you get because of your astounding generosity in supporting this church of ours – this place to be fully alive.
