Food for the Journey - 2011
9:15 a.m. each Sunday in the Undercroft
For our first weekly seminar in 2011, we’re excited to look into Discovering the Lost Traditions of Mystical Christianity - a seminar loosely constructed around Richard Rohr’s “Learning to See as the Mystics See.” This seminar will be led by Fr. Rick Meyers and Mark Kelly, with each session being self contained. You are welcome to come to one, some or all sessions.
Through stories, meditations, teachings and group discussions, you will be helped to transform yourself and inspire others.
Questions to be considered:
- Why does your ego resist change and growth?
- What is useful about popular ideas, such as “the law of attraction”?
- How can you enhance spiritual awareness without sacrificing reason?
- What can Jesus, the first mystical leader in the West, teach you?
"Rohr's kind of contemplation is an adventure in the wilderness, letting God call you by name and take you to a deeper place of peace that the world cannot give and can no longer take from you once it is encountered." -- St. Anthony Messenger
"Although we all use the phrase 'peace of mind', there is really no such thing. When you are in your mind, you are never truly at peace, and when you are truly at peace, you are never in your mind. Don't believe or disbelieve that statement either, just honestly observe yourself. Then you will know - but it will be an altogether new kind of knowing." -- Richard Rohr, OSF
