Safeguarding God's Children

Saturday, February 12th - 8:15 am - 12:30 pm - Bowen Hall
Leaders:  Kathy Mordeaux and Cristi Rivero

There is no charge for this workshop, but because we must order supplies, please register by contacting Arlene at 303-688-5185 or sending her an email by Monday, February 7th.

Safeguarding God’s Children was designed by the Church Pension Group and is aimed at preventing  childhood sexual abuse.  Our purpose is not to make people paranoid or to inhibit ministry to our children and youth but rather to give guidelines to create a safe container within which we can be free to give our students the love, affection, teaching, nurturing, mentoring, and spiritual leadership they need in safe, healthy ways.  We cannot stress enough the need for as many as possible to take this course.

Please note that while this workshop does not contain graphic images of sexual abuse, it is nevertheless designed and recommended for those 16 and older.

The class is required every four years  (whether paid or unpaid, occasional or regular) for all Youth group leaders, Education teachers, helpers, drivers, The Playhouse attendants, Acolyte leaders, church employees, Clergy, anyone who works with children or youth whose previous training is over four years old, and anyone else who for any reason has regular contact with children or youth in the church.

Strongly recommended for:      Senior Warden, Junior Warden, Vestry members.

Greatly encouraged to attend:   Every adult (over 16 years of age) in the parish.

A personal note from Cristi:  “I went to this class because it was required.  I came away feeling that it was some of the best four hours I have spent on my son’s behalf.  Not only did it empower and enlighten me, it gave me more tools to help protect my son as well as myself. Yes, it is not a pleasant subject – but I cannot encourage you enough – if you deal with ANY child ANYWHERE you should take this class.”
